Passover the Foundation of Easter

Passover is a celebration that the Jews celebrate to remind them of God's provision. They were in slavery 430 years in Egypt, and God's deliverance for them came through the leadership of a reluctant man named Moses. God had a calling upon Moses from the day he was born, and it took him the majority of his adult life to realize it. He become by far the most outstanding leader of Israel, until Jesus. Passover is one of the feasts celebrated in Leviticus 23, and is the forerunner of what happened at the cross. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice, once and for all for all mankind. Most reference books say that the name “Easter” derived from the Eastre, the Teutonic goddess of Spring. Many Christians today call Easter, "Resurrection Sunday" which is a better name since it is the reason why we celebrate this holiday. Passover however is the foundation of what we celerbate on Easter Sunday in the Church and the teaching by Chris Heeb and Rabbi Ed Rothman will help you understand the Hebraic Root of God's plan to bring redemption first to Israel and then to the whole world.
Good News for Israel is a 134 year old Messianic ministry that is dedicated to the establishment of the one new man mention in Ephesians 2. We interpret scripture through the lens of a Hebraic Root theology that brings Gods story back to Abraham and traces that story through the "law and prophets" through Jesus and ultimately ending with the ruling and reigning of Jesus Christ from Jerusalem. It is this reason that GNFI will be hosting a Hebraic Root conference this fall, October 13-15 in Bloomington MN and you can find out more by coming to our website. gnfi.org
