Who are the "Palestinian People"?
Would a New State Bring Peace & Justice?

We hope that the material below will help you to better understand the recent history of the Palestinian people.

The JEWISH VIRTUAL LIBRARY has a page of web links on Palestinians and Palestine, including a picture of the map in Palestinian textbooks and published on its official web site, which shows Palestine as encompassing not only the West Bank and Gaza Strip, but all of Israel as well.

Peace Petition

The Peace Petition can be used to share the only true way to peace between the warring families of humanity. Use it on college campuses. Remind Palestinian Arabs that in Ezekiel 47:22 The God of Israel promises to provide a permanent inheritance (within the territory promised to Israel) to aliens who are at peace with Him and His people, the sons of Jacob.

America does not want a new terrorist state to emerge.
How to prevent it, By Binyamin Netanyahu

The God of B'nei (Children of Israel) - Israel Loves Arabs and All Peoples April 29, '05

Many reporters and writers have noted that the struggle in the Middle East between the Israelis and the Arabs is one between cousins, between an-ciently related peoples. The struggle between Arabs and Israelis is often depicted as the modern continuation of the biblical stories about inheritance and blessing between Ishmael and Isaac, Jacob and Esau. In other words, the seed of Abraham contending to see who would be the favored seed over a small strip of land given to Abraham.

Analysis / The New Reality, By Aluf Benn

Yasser Arafat died at a time when the violent intifada that he led against Israel was losing momentum and exhausting its gains. The terror in Israeli cities had been significantly reduced and the world was backing forceful Israeli military responses.
The violence brought the Palestinians two significant achievements. First, Israel abandoned its policy of "no concessions under fire" and agreed to evacuate settlements from Gaza and the northern West Bank without getting anything in return. Second, the international community united behind a Palestinian state and strengthened its support for the Green Line as the future border between Israel and Palestine.

Arabs were Encouraged To Leave By Arab States, Feb 29, '04

Joan Peters, in "From Time Immemorial" (p. 13), quotes a research report by the Arab-sponsored Institute for Palestine Studies in Beirut finding that "the majority" of the Arab refugees in 1948 were not expelled, and that 68% left without seeing an Israeli soldier.

Arab League Secretary-General Habib Issa said in 1951 that his predecessor, Azzam Pasha, "assured the Arab peoples that the occupation of Palestine and of Tel Aviv would be as simple as a military promenade ... and that all the millions the Jews had spent on land and economic development would be easy booty, for it would be a simple matter to throw Jews into the Mediterranean ... Arafat and his Billions, Jan 15, '04

"Yasser Arafat is rich," reports the New York Daily News, "but his Palestinian Authority is going broke." Despite - or because of - Arafat's wealth, PA Economy Minister Maher Masri is quoted as saying, "If this situation continues... we will not be able to provide salaries next month."

The paper writes that though his people have grown poorer, Arafat himself has amassed a fortune estimated by Forbes at $300 million, putting him in sixth place on the list of richest world leaders. Israel says his real net worth exceeds $1 billion. Other analysts place the figure at closer to $3 billion.

Arafat's Greed, By David Meir-Levi November 18, 2003

There's a crisis brewing in the Palestinian Authority (PA). Arafat's galactic greed has become the cause of considerable discontent both among PA members and among the donor states that have poured billions into the PA's coffers over the last 9 years.

But this is nothing new. Arafat's depredatory thievery was brought to the attention of congress as early as the summer of 1995; and was ignored.

Arafat Leaves Legacy of Violence, Terrorism, Chaos, By Julie Stahl, Jerusalem Bureau Chief

CNSNews.com, November 11, 2004
Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - On Thursday, when Palestinian Authority leader Yasser Arafat finally died after days in a coma, both his friends and foes were well prepared for his inevitable passing. Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said that Arafat, a one-time winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, would be remembered for uniting his people. "He's the one who kept the Palestinian national identity from extinction," said Erekat in an interview with CNN shortly after Arafat's death was announced.

But following the breakdown of the peace process over the last four years, Arafat has managed a violent terrorist uprising against Israel. Israeli experts said Arafat is leaving behind a much different legacy -- one of violence, chaos, and terrorism that will take many years to undo.

Calling him the "godfather of the current age of terrorism," professor Barry Rubin of the Global Research in International Affairs Center, said Arafat is leaving behind a three-fold disaster for his people. "[Arafat] left the Palestinians in a mess because he's thrown away the best chance for them to get a state four years ago and instead led [them into] violence and heavy losses," said Rubin, co-author of a book on the Palestinian leader, Yasir Arafat: A Political Biography.

Arafat also left the Palestinians with "an organizational legacy of anarchy, chaos, competing organizations [and] an ideological legacy of extremism and glorification of violence," Rubin said.

Arafat's Rival Heirs - a field guide, By Bradley Burston

Haaretz Correspondent, 11-12-2004
In the annals of gaming, Palestinian Politics as devised by Yasser Arafat was unique: made to be played by millions at once, it remained forever a form of solitaire.

The rules, if unstated, were clear to all. Nothing was left to chance. The deck was stacked by the lone dealer. The preponderance of chips stayed with the house, which laundered and squirreled them away in the hundreds and hundreds of millions. Nonetheless, the dealer was revered, unerringly granting the players a sense of victory even in successive defeats.

EU Parliament Member: Intifada is European Proxy War Against America, Dec 23, '03

"The Europeans," explained MP Schroeder, "supported the Palestinian Authority with the aim of becoming its main sponsor, and through this challenge the U.S. and present themselves as the future global power.

"The primary goal of the EU is the internationalization of the conflict in order to underline the need for its own mediating role," she argues, warning that renewed European calls for a multinational force in the region - heard most recently by the head of the largest political bloc in the parliament - combined with heightened levels of anti-Semitism in Europe and the Arab world, could spell disaster for Jews everywhere.
"The Palestinians are playing the ugly role of being the cannon fodder for Europe's hidden war against the U.S.," she adds.

"There is no difference in the consciousness of an average member of the European Parliament and an average German peace demonstrator, and I consider this to be a mixture of naivete, moralism, anti-Americanism, anti-Semitism, and anti-Zionism and an altogether serious danger," she said during her U.S. speaking tour.

'God curse Those who Sent Baby-faced Bomber,' March 25 2004

Nablus - Palestinian militants faced a public backlash on Thursday for using youths as suicide bombers after Israeli troops caught and persuaded a 16-year-old to take off an explosives vest at a checkpoint.

People throughout the West Bank and Gaza were shocked by the internationally-televised footage of a bewildered-looking Hussam Abdu struggling to remove the bomb belt on Wednesday with other Palestinians queued at the roadblock cowering in the background.

Greek Orthodox Head Caught Lying, Attempting to Smuggle

Irineos, unrecognized leader of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem and a candidate for the post of Greek Orthodox Patriarch, was caught lying to soldiers and trying to smuggle a gun to Yasser Arafat.

Prime Minister Sharon supported Irineos' candidacy last year, but agreed - at the behest of several Cabinet ministers - to hold up the appointment until the end of a police investigation against Irineos. The Greek Orthodox priest is a close friend of Yasser Arafat, strongly supports the PA in its struggle against Israel, and has deep-seated anti-Semitic sensitivities.

Just What Mr. Palestine Ruled Over, Ferry Biedermann

RAMALLAH, Nov 11 (IPS) - For almost four decades, Yasser Arafat was Mr Palestine to many in this fractured homeland.

Yasser Arafat represented the Palestinian people, wherever they are, as the head of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) which was accepted by the Arab League as "the sole legal representative of the Palestinian people." He had an iron grip on the organisation.

Arafat assumed leadership of the PLO in 1969, two years after the Fatah movement that advocated armed struggle against Israel joined the organisation. Both Fatah and the PLO were founded in exile.

MYTHS & FACTS ONLINE, By Mitchell G. Bard

In 1957, Si Kenen started a newsletter - Near East Report - to inform the public about events relating to the Middle East. Much of what he published in NER was current, but he also recognized the need to educate readers about the Arab-Israeli conflict and to debunk myths perpetrated by those who wished to rewrite history to suit their own purposes. Toward this end, NER began to publish special surveys of pertinent issues. Gradually these analyses grew to book length and were published as Myths and Facts.

P.A. Incitement And Hatred Documented Before U.S. Senators

11-03-2003 A U.S. Senate hearing this past Thursday examined whether US financial support to the PA is helping fund hate indoctrination. PMW's Itamar Marcus and the ZOA's Morton Klein were among those who testified.

Marcus, whose organization has long documented hatred and incitement disseminated by the Palestinian Authority, described at the hearing the many means by which the PA indoctrinates children with the "values" of hatred against Israel, violence and suicide terrorism.

The Palestinians' Genocide Campaign, By Alan Dershowitz   April 18, 2004

Recently, a young student at the Hebrew University was gunned down while jogging through a mixed neighborhood of Jews and Arabs in north Jerusalem. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, joyously claimed credit for the killing yet another innocent Jew.

When it was later learned that the jogger was a Jerusalem Arab and not a Jew, al-Aqsa quickly apologized to the family, calling it an accident. But the killing of the innocent young jogger was not an accident; the murderer had deliberately taken aim at his head and midsection, intending to end his life. The only thing accidental about the murder was the religion of the victim. Al-Aqsa had sent the assassin to murder a Jew - any Jew, so long as he was a Jew.

The Palestinian-Israel War Gains a French Dimension, DEBKAfile, October 29, 2004

Exactly ten years ago, the Palestinian leader made a triumphal entry from Tunisian exile to lead the Palestinian Authority created under the 1993 Oslo peace accords. He rode in on a pledge to honor the peace, a pledge he lost no time in violating.

A certain amount of jostling for position greeted the first hours after his departure. The first to step forward were the former and current Palestinian prime ministers Mahmoud Abbas and Ahmed Qureia. Abbas is Arafat's Number 2 in the PLO executive; Qureia, the senior Palestinian Authority official. A third was Salim Zaanoun, head of the Palestinian Legislative Council. A fourth was the ambitious Mohammed Dahlan, former Gaza Strip strongman.

The Palestinian Refugees, by Mitchell Bard

The Palestinians left their homes in 1947-48 for a variety of reasons. Thousands of wealthy Arabs left in anticipation of a war, thousands more responded to Arab leaders' calls to get out of the way of the advancing armies, a handful were expelled, but most simply fled to avoid being caught in the cross fire of a battle. Had the Arabs accepted the 1947 UN resolution, not a single Palestinian would have become a refugee and an independent Arab state would now exist beside Israel.

The Palestinians' Unmitigated Disaster, By Daniel Pipes 4-20-2004

A day after Israeli troops killed its second leader within a single month, the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas put on a brave face. The Israelis "are dreaming," if they think this would weaken Hamas, announced Ismail Haniyeh to a crowd of over 70,000 mourners at the funeral for Abdel Aziz Rantisi. "Every time a martyr falls," Haniyeh insisted, "Hamas is strengthened."

This sort of boosterism and puffery has a long history among Palestinians. The last time Israeli forces did real damage to the Palestinian war machine, in May 2002, for example, Khaled Meshaal of Hamas announced that the Israeli devastation was actually "a Palestinian victory that lifted the morale of our people." Not to be outdone, Yasir Arafat of the Palestinian Authority (PA) claimed that same month, "The more destruction I see, the stronger I get."

These leaders may be fooling themselves by pretending that defeat is victory, but growing numbers of Palestinians are wising up to the bitter realities of losing a war. Their mood has darkened since February 2001, when Prime Minister Ariel Sharon came to office intent to establish that violence against Israel does not work.

Prepare for a Palestinian State, By David Newman

The Palestinian state is not going to materialize tomorrow but materialize it will; it is finally dawning on Israeli policy makers and the public at large that the establishment of such a state has almost nothing to do with the fight against the terror which is taking place on our streets. That terror will continue well into the next right-wing government's period of office.

If Sharon has understood anything since taking office, it is that we can hit back hard, far harder than they can hit us, but we cannot put a total end to the suicide bombers, even if we destroy their arms factories, the civilian infrastructure and just about everything else which has been under Palestinian Authority control.
[Do Joel 3:4-8 and Amos 1:6-8 refer to a future Palestinian entity that betrays Israel to a European (Greek or Javan) Antichrist? Will deportation from their land be part of Antichrist's "final Solution"? -cjp]

Secret EU Findings: European Donations To P.A. Were Used For Terrorism
Arutz ShevaFeb 13, '04

A secret report prepared by the European Union's Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) concludes that tens of millions of dollars in humanitarian aid donated by the EU to the Palestinian Authority were actually used for terrorism against Israel. Remarkably, the conclusions are based on papers that Israel discovered almost two full years ago, during Operation Defensive Shield, and which it presented to the world immediately afterwards.

"State of Palestine" Constitution Institutes Islamic Law

Dec 31, '03 The Palestinian Authority has adopted an official constitution based on Koranic "Sharia" Law, rendering all people living in the PA subject to Islamic Law. So writes independent investigative journalist David Bedein in FrontPageMagazine.com.

Why is America upping the hundreds of million$ it already gives the 'Palestinians'? Arafat's successor is hell-bent on destroying Israel, By Daniel Pipes

Yasser Arafat died last month. This month, his death is prompting plans for a foreign aid bounty of $500 million to $1 billion a year for the Palestinians.

That's the scoop Steven R. Weisman published in the New York Times on Dec. 17. He revealed that Western, Arab, and other governments plan to add a 50 to 100 percent bonus to the $1 billion a year they already direct to 3.5 million Palestinians in the territories, contingent upon a crackdown on terrorist groups and the holding of credible elections in January 2005.
